Overview 

We are looking for a Principal Technologist to develop our best-in-class learning programmes for our clients. Our Principal Technologist will be a domain knowledge expert who is passionate about sharing their knowledge with others. They will apply their classroom experience and technical knowledge to develop new learning programme content for Decoded’s customers within the AI & Automation domain.

You will be part of the team setting product direction, quality and relevance of our product and proposition with the opportunity to drive product direction and content. This role includes delivery of workshops, delivery of content against solution and customer requirements, and subject matter leadership for business practitioners focused on AI Automation and process redesign.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Professionalism

  • Domain SME: Act as the ultimate Subject Matter Expert for AI and Automation, maintaining a best-in-class understanding of LLMs, Agentic Orchestration, and Low-Code ecosystems to inform our teaching.

  • Professional Standards: Maintain high standards of delivery across quality and pacing, ensuring a consistent and high-quality Decoded voice across all AI sessions.

  • Stakeholder Management: Confidently manage high-stakes technical conversations with senior stakeholders, providing clarity on everything from API orchestration to model benchmarking.

  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and upskilling to the wider delivery team, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of the AI-driven Business Transition landscape.

2. Content Design & Development

  • Curriculum Innovation: Develop new learning programme content that bridges the gap between manual business processes and automated reasoning, focusing on the architectural design of Business Transition pathways.

  • The "Vibe Coding" Methodology: Design and champion educational frameworks for AI-assisted development, teaching learners how to use AI to generate, audit, and secure Python and Javascript snippets.

  • Process Redesign Architecture: Deconstruct messy manual processes into machine-readable as-is and to-be workflows, building the technical blueprints for our automation curriculum.

  • Solution Alignment: Ensure all content meets set deadlines and is tailored to specific customer requirements while maintaining the core integrity of the AI & Automation product suite.

3. Teaching and Delivery

  • Workshop Instruction: Deliver high-impact, virtual workshops to cohorts of business practitioners, effectively translating complex architectural concepts into actionable logic.

  • Teaching Excellence: Apply professional teaching techniques and classroom experience to ensure high engagement and knowledge retention across a diverse range of learner backgrounds. Enable an inclusive, collaborative, and respectful learning environment

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Provide real-time support and technical clarity during live sessions, ensuring the smooth delivery of hands-on labs focused on Power Platform, Zapier and n8n.

  • Quality Assurance: Constantly refresh technical delivery based on learner feedback and market shifts to ensure our instruction remains at the cutting edge of the AI field.

4. Subject Matter Leadership 

  • Product Direction: Work closely with the Product teams to drive the direction of our AI and Automation products and propositions, identifying gaps in the market and opportunities for new technical propositions.

  • Commercial Insight: Apply subject matter leadership to help shape the commercial strategy for the AI & Automation domain, ensuring our products meet the evolving needs of our global clients.

Team & Reporting Structure

You will report into the Portfolio Director, in the Product Department.

Job requirements

Who are you?

Experience

  • Extensive experience in technical facilitation and teaching, with a passion for sharing complex technical knowledge with non-technical audiences.

  • Proven track record of designing and delivering technical learning content, specifically in the fields of AI, Automation, or Digital Transformation.

  • Experience in AI Automation and process redesign, combining the rigour of business process analysis with the technical execution of automated workflows.

  • Demonstrable experience in leading a technical domain or product area within a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills

  • AI Practitioner: Expertise in Vibe Coding and AI-assisted development workflows including advanced Prompt Engineering and the implementation of LLM-as-a-Judge evaluation frameworks.

  • Automation Expert: Advanced proficiency in Low-Code/No-Code ecosystems such as Power Automate, Zapier, or other equivalent enterprise tools.

  • Coding Literacy: Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript, specifically regarding their application in extending automation tools and managing API integrations.

  • Systems Architecture: Ability to design and document data flows and agentic reasoning loops for use in technical training materials.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Expert at technical translation, making the black box of AI transparent and accessible to non-technical operational leaders.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and technical peers alike.

Your performance will be measured and driven by: 

  • Delivering regular high-quality learning engagements with learners

  • Developing learning programme content to agreed deadlines, meeting Scope of Work requirements

  • Enabling learners to apply newly learned techniques to their professional environment 

  • Coaching through the application of techniques that are new to learners 

  • Striving for excellence in everything you do: you don’t accept mediocrity in yourself or the team around you 

  • Solving problems elegantly and creatively: “find a way or make a way” 

A successful candidate will be expected to achieve the following within 3 months:

  • Autonomous management of workshop delivery 

  • Autonomous management of learning content development deadlines 

  • An overall Learner Feedback score +8/10

  • An overall Facilitation KPI score of 75%

Day to Day

This role can be delivered fully remote, provided the working location has consistently reliable Wifi for workshop delivery and up to 2 hours +/- GMT. The Decoded office in Shoreditch is available for non-workshop delivery work.

You will work from 9am - 5pm. When required, you may need to travel to your learners' workplaces to deliver in person workshops which are delivered in a variety of locations particularly in London and across Europe.
